Where do I begin? I first saw Debbie in 2002, I was immediately drawn to her, like a moth to a flame. She
blew me out of the water. She was a giant ray of sunshine and we immediately began dating. From our first
date on the 1st of February, 2002, we were inseparable.
Our first date to Freddie Jackson.

Wow!

Our first real date was going to see Freddie Jackson on Valentines day and we got all dressed up and had the most
romantic night imaginable.  Her smile, her enthusiasm, the way we danced together, the passion was like nothing
I had ever experienced with another woman in my life. I fell in love with Debbie before I knew what was happening
and my life turned upside down for the next  8 years. I thank God for every moment I shared with Debbie : the
good and the bad, we were one hell of an  amazing couple. I will love her forever. She called me her Bucket
and she will always be my soul mate and goof ball.

There were so many things that Debbie never got to do as a kid due to her horrific childhood. So it became so
important for the two of us to have fun, as much as possible. I loved watching her experience some of the
following things we did together - we truly got to experience life as Debbie had never seen it!!! Debbie finally
got to learn what true fun was all about.

Las Vegas

We spent last October in Vegas together and rode the rides at the Stratosphere. Unreal experience. We walked the city, shopping, eating, kissing and simply looking at everything in amazement.

New York

So so cold but we still had a great time. We stayed at the New York Hilton and Debbie got to come hang out in my work booth under the guise of Shepard Consulting. She met my CEO and co-workers and was truly a professional that day. I was so proud of her.

Flagstaff and Sedona

Debbie's first experience camping was cold and rainy at Flagstaff but from there we went to Sedona and had the best day ever. So so beautiful and romantic.

Pride

When I met Debbie, she hated Pride - felt it was just a bunch of half dressed boys runnin' around being inappropriate. But that all changed and we had so much fun every time we went. We even won "Best Looking Couple" at San Diego Pride and won a trip!!!

Disneyland

What an amazing time. There was hardly anyone there so we got to ride all the rides without standing in long lines. We had a bit of rain to deal with but that didn't stop our fun.

Magic Mountain

Although the hotel was absolutely disgusting, we had the best time at Magic Mountain. The rides were so so scary but we went on almost all of them. God we laughed so hard that day. A wonderful time.

Unreal time! Beautiful mountain cabin, a great time riding the waves, I would give anything to do this with her again.

Del Mar Fair

We loved going to the fair together and always got sucked in by the fair barkers buying the latest in skincare products and sushi makers. LOL. God I loved going to the fair with her!!!

Whitewater rafting in Leavenworth, Washington,

and of course, many trips to the ocean in San Diego. Debbie loved the little town of Ocean Beach and we went there
often, just walking the beach holding hands.

We also loved riding to the little town of Julian and had a blast every time we went.

We spent much of our time laughing in thrift stores and cuddling in front of a fire watching movies like Nemo,
Monsters, Inc., Ratatouille and every other Pixar cartoon movie out there. We were blessed to ride our Harleys
together and damn, she looked amazing on her bike. We rode horses together in the country, I got to go on trips
with her in her big rig and we actually baked cakes together.

We loved to play miniature golf too and Debbie would ALWAYS win.

We saw the Indigo Girls concerts every chance we got and always had a blast. We would go with my sisters, Viki
and Kit.

We spent time painting her apartment and loved just hanging out there cuddling with the kitties.

The holidays like Christmas

Thanksgiving

Halloween

  So hot...wow.

and birthdays were always so special to us.

Watching her opening her presents on Christmas day was a true joy -
she was like a five year old ripping the paper and ribbons.

Bracelet I got her for Christmas 2009

Screen she got for me in 2009

Christmastime for Debbie!

Earrings Debbie gave me for Christmas this year...!

I was blessed to be with Debbie the first time she ever put her feet in the Pacific Ocean. God, she was so excited!

One of my favorite things to do with her was simply walking down Broadway in
Seattle holding hands and having coffee and shopping.

Watching Debbie dance made my heart melt. NO one, and I mean. NO ONE could
dance like that woman could. She was a vision on the dance floor. I would just sit & watch her

with such a longing...I could do that for hours.

She also wrote me poetry...unreal poetry. The words in her heart were like voices
of the angels.  I was so honored to get poems from her, filled with all the things
she held deep inside her.
  I'll cherish her words forever.

My dearest Debbie,

As you read this letter, I want you to know that I miss you and that so
much has changed because of you. I always thought this sort of thing happened to other
people, not me. Maybe, in your heart, you thought you were doing me a favor by taking
your life. What hurt most is that I never really got a chance to say ‘Goodbye’.  I have
cried as I  tried to understand your despair, your misery.

At times I have been angry with you for what you did to yourself, for
what you did to me and all those who love you so much. At times I have felt responsible
for your death. I have searched for what I did or failed to do: God, why wasn't my phone on
that night you called me!! What clues did I miss? How could I have let this happen?

Yet I know that I didn’t make your choice. I am still trying to stop feeling
responsible for your death. If I were responsible for you, you’d still be alive.

I and everyone else all think of you so often, even when it hurts to remember.
I am so very lonely for your presence and whenever I hear our songs, (and there are so many)
I still cry for you, particularly Michael Jackson "You Are Not Alone." I cry for you every
morning, darling. I feel sad that you’re not here to share so many moments with me. Debbie,
for now, my mornings have no beginning and my nights seem as long as winter.

Slowly though, I’m promised that it will get better. I remember the
good times. This site reflects so many memories, great memories, Maybe soon you'll see me
smile a little more as I’m trying to learn to live again, realizing that I cannot die because you
chose to die. All of us pray that you are at peace. At the end of my days, I so look forward
to being with you again –
Peace be with you my love.

Always, All Ways,
Your Bucket

"When everything is dark, when we are surrounded by despairing voices,
when we do not see any exits, then we can find salvation in a remembered love,
a love which is simply a recollection of a bygone past but a living force which
sustains us in the present. Through memory, love transcends the limits of time
and offers hope at any moment of our lives."
~ Henri Nouwen
